The ACCA Elderly Services team held its annual Chinese New Year Luncheon on Wednesday 13th February 2019 for its aged, community and disability care services clients and carers at the Marigold Chinese Restaurant in Haymarket.
To usher in the Year of the Pig, the guests and elderly services clients were entertained to a spectacular Lion Dance performance by the Yau Kung Mun Association. Two Lions were on hand to kick off the morning’s proceedings with the dotting of the Lions’ eyes by ACCA President Eric Wu and Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney.
ACCA President Eric Wu in his opening speech wished everyone “Happy Chinese New Year” and “ Kung Hei Fatt Choy”.
Mr Wu mentioned that 2019 is the Year of the Pig and people born in the year of the Pig are known to have a beautiful personality and are blessed with good fortune in life.
He also mentioned that ACCA is one of the earliest providers of aged and disability care services for Australians of Chinese descent in Sydney. ACCA has achieved significant growth in its services over the past two years due to its reputation for delivering high quality and culturally specific care services.
Mr Wu thanked Mr Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney for his support in ACCA’s application for the Community Building Partnership 2018 Grant for which ACCA secured approximately $12,000 to upgrade its Surry Hills Centre’s kitchen equipment.
Alex Greenwich, in his speech complimented ACCA for providing exemplary aged and community care services to the Chinese community in Sydney. He also wished all the guests a “Happy Chinese New Year”.
The guests were also entertained by two traditional dances performed by the fabulous ACCA Dancing Group members.
The other guests who attended the event included Tony Maroun, Emeritus Mayor, former Mayor of Burwood and former Mayor of Strathfield. Ms Wai Sue Teoh, Business Development Manager, Nestle Australia. ACCA directors who attended were, Ms Shirley Chan, Vice-President, Ms Julie Yen, Vice-President, John Hugh, Secretary and ACCA Council members, Benjamin Chow and Sugandhi Hendrawan.
