ACCA Chinese Language School

A world of opportunities and Chinese culture in every classroom.

Established in 1976, the Australian Chinese Community Association Chinese Language School is a beacon of excellence and tradition in New South Wales. Recognised and supported by the New South Wales Government, we offer premier Chinese language education from kindergarten to high school in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Our comprehensive curriculum also includes adult classes and a special bridging Mandarin course for youths. With experienced and qualified teachers, we provide a complete and enriching learning experience.

Celebrate with us as we commemorate over 48 years of educational excellence!

Our school has celebrated some remarkable achievements over the years.

Our students consistently shine, winning the NSW Minister’s Awards year after year. We've also triumphed in the annual National Chinese Eisteddfod. Prior to that, in a memory not lost on our school community, in 2007 our Speech Day was graced by former Australian Prime Minister, the Honourable John Howard.

Additionally, we received accolades from the City of Ryde Council and the Federation of Ethnic Schools of NSW for our many decades of dedicated community service.

Our esteemed Principal, Phil Xu, has been recognised with the “Chinese Education Commendation Award” and the Rotary Club "Community Service Award" for his outstanding contributions to Chinese education.

These awards are a testament to the exceptional dedication of Mr. Xu and our entire school community.

Attending a Chinese language school offers numerous benefits, including:

Cultural enrichment

Learning Chinese provides deep insights into one of the world's oldest and most influential cultures. This cultural understanding can enhance personal growth and appreciation for global diversity.

Career opportunities

Proficiency in Chinese can open doors to various career opportunities in fields such as international business, diplomacy, translation, education, and more, as China continues to play a significant role in the global economy.

Cognitive benefits

Learning a new language, especially one as different from English as Chinese, can improve cognitive abilities such as memory, problem-solving skills, and multitasking. It can also delay the onset of cognitive decline in older adults.

Travel

For those interested in traveling, knowing Chinese can make trips to China and other Chinese-speaking regions more enriching and enjoyable, allowing for better communication and deeper immersion in the local culture.

Networking

Attending a Chinese language school provides opportunities to meet and connect with a diverse group of people, including fellow students, teachers, and native speakers. This network can be valuable personally and professionally.

Academic advantage

For students, learning Chinese can enhance their academic profile, making them stand out in university applications and scholarships. Many educational institutions value multilingualism and cultural competence.

Personal achievement

Mastering a challenging language like Chinese can be a rewarding personal achievement, boosting confidence and providing a sense of accomplishment.

Bilingualism

Being bilingual or multilingual is an asset in an increasingly globalised world, and Chinese, with its growing importance, is a strategic choice for language learners.

At ACCA, we believe that attending a Chinese language school can enrich one's cultural understanding, enhance career prospects, improve cognitive abilities, and offer a rewarding personal experience.

Proven by our continued celebration of the achievements of our students, teachers and entire school community through our awards program and in entering academic competitions.

National Chinese Eisteddfod

For over two decades, the prestigious National Chinese Eisteddfod, organised by the NSW Chinese Education Council, has been a cornerstone of cultural celebration and excellence. As proud long-term sponsors and active participants, we have consistently showcased our students' exceptional talents.

In 2010, our stars shone brightly, securing first place in four out of nine individual events. Through the Eisteddfod, we are dedicated to fostering student engagement and championing cultural integration within our vibrant community.

The School Competitions

Every year, the ACCA Chinese School and its Parents’ Club proudly host the Mid-Autumn Lantern Design Competition and Chinese Calligraphy Competition. Our Lantern Competition sparks students' creativity and deepens their appreciation of Chinese culture and traditions. Meanwhile, the Calligraphy Competition introduces students to the exquisite art of traditional Chinese calligraphy, enhancing their skills in the proper writing sequence of Chinese characters.

Winning artworks are celebrated during school assemblies and showcased in newspapers, highlighting our students' incredible talent and dedication.

Building a Caring Community through the Chinese School Parent’s Club

As a community-based organisation, we place a strong emphasis on social engagement.

We believe that parental involvement is key to achieving the best possible learning outcomes for our students. Parents play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges in learning the Chinese language.

Members of our Parents’ Club actively contribute by assisting with school ground patrol and managing the Chinese library service during recess. Additionally, they help organise a variety of events, including seminars on educational issues, the National Chinese Eisteddfod, our Annual Speech Day, and the Lantern Design Competition.

We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of our parents, who are integral to our school community's success!
