ACCA Directors Attend Philip Ruddock’s Nation Building Book Launch

ACCA Directors Shirley Chan, Christine Mok and Councillor Benjamin Chow attended the launch of the Hon. Philip Ruddock AO’s new book, Nation Building: How Immigration Made Australia, held at The Philip Ruddock Heritage Centre, Parramatta on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Mr Ruddock was joined by former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian as a special guest to discuss the important role immigration has played in shaping modern Australia, including its economic, social and cultural development. Drawing on his extensive experience in public life, Mr Ruddock reflects on his time as Australia’s longest-serving Immigration Minister, a position he held from 1996 to 2003.

The launch provided an opportunity for community representatives to reflect on Australia’s multicultural journey and the contribution that people from diverse cultural backgrounds have made to the nation. For ACCA, this is particularly relevant given the organisation’s longstanding commitment to supporting Chinese Australians and other culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Sydney.

ACCA has seen first-hand the importance of migration and multiculturalism in building strong, connected communities. Through its aged care, disability and community programs, ACCA continues to support older Australians and families from diverse backgrounds, helping people remain connected to their culture, language and community while participating fully in Australian society.

Ms Chan, Ms Mok and Mr Chow were pleased to represent ACCA at the book launch and have pre-ordered many copies of the book to be distributed among its staff and members.
