ACCA 43rd AGM – 10th December 2017

ACCA’s 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Parramatta RSL Club on Sunday 10th December 2017 was a huge success. Attended by more than 175 members and guests the formal program was preceded by a spectacular singing and dancing performance.

The AGM was declared opened by President Shirley Chan at 12.05pm - a quorum of 188 (voting members plus proxies) was registered at that time. Ms Shirley Chan presented her report for the year 2016-17. She advised that ACCA’s core business of home and community care has expanded significantly, thanks to the hard work of management and staff. Also, ACCA is proud to have commenced providing disability services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

“ACCA’s reputation for high quality service is the key driver of our success” said Shirley Chan.

Treasurer Stephanie Chen presented her report for the financial year ended 30th June 2017. Ms Chen reported that the operating surplus for the year was $143,731 which was an unprecedented eight consecutive years of surplus due to prudent financial management.

“ACCA is in a good financial position and it’s well placed to remain so into the future” said Stephanie Chen.

The Returning Officer for the Elections presented his report to the members.  The newly elected directors are Theresa Liang, John Hugh, Helena Chai, Christine Mok, and Eric Wu. The newly elected Councillors are Benjamin Chow, Stephanie Chen, Adrian Wong, Shi Zhuang Fang and Sugandhi Hendrawan. Under the new constitution the new directors (like Councillors) will hold office for a 4-year term.

The meeting also had Shirley Chan presenting an Honorary Membership certificate to Clr Andrew Wilson, Lord Mayor of the City of Parramatta. For the first time in the history of ACCA a Community Police Ambassador was appointed - the certificate of appointment was presented to Senior Constable Draz Brkljac by our President.

A lucky draw was held for all members and six of them walked away happily with gift cards worth $50 each to assist with their shopping over the Christmas and New Year period.

Finally, we are pleased to report that the final quorum for the AGM was 205 (voting members and proxies), which is the highest number ever recorded in the last ten years. President Shirley Chan said the high attendance of members for an ordinary AGM was an endorsement and a show of support of the Board’s policies and achievements for the year.

The members and guests then adjourned to ACCA’s Parramatta office at 15 Hunter Street for a luncheon to celebrate what has been a very successful year and exchange Christmas greetings and messages.

ACCA offices will be closed from mid-day Friday 22 December 2017 and reopen on Tues 2 January 2018.

We wish all our members and staff a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2018.
